De psychedelische rockband bereikt zijn grootste faam als hun fantastische Dylaneske garagepunksingle &#8216;A Public Execution&#8217; uit 1996 in 1972 wordt opgenomen op de legendarische <em>Nuggets<\/em>-verzamelaar. Mouse And The Traps bestaat dan allang niet meer, want in 1971 duiken Ronnie &#8216;Mouse&#8217; Weiss (zang, gitaar, bottleneck), David Stanley (gitaar, zang) en Ken Murray (drums) op in Rio Grande, een onvervalste countryrockband. Aangevuld met <!--more-->bassist Tom Russell en pedal steel-speler Bobby Tuttle neemt Rio Grande in de lokale studio in Tyler hun debuut-lp op voor RCA. Bij de release in &#8217;71 wordt het zelfgetitelde <em>Rio Grande<\/em> volledig over het hoofd gezien. Dat is enigszins voorstelbaar gezien de onnadrukkelijke en pretentieloze countryliedjes met een folky twist, anderzijds zijn songs als &#8216;Sue Ann&#8217;, &#8216;So Good Te Be Free&#8217;, &#8216;Before My Time&#8217;, &#8216;Dog Song&#8217; wonderschoon vanwege de harmonie\u00ebn en de wuivende pedal steel. De swamprocker &#8216;Nice And Easy&#8217; blinkt bovendien uit door de fantastische bottlleneckgitaar van Ronnie Weiss \u2013 en tilt daarmee <em>Rio Grande<\/em> naar een hoger plan, al is dat in 1971 voor dovemansoren.<\/p>\n<p><em>Idle Idabelle \/ Me And My Wife \/ End Of The Bottle \/ Sue Ann \/ So Good To Be Free \/ Wish I Could See You Again \/ What Do You Do When Love Flies Out Your Window \/ Before My Time \/ Nice And Easy \/ Dog Song<\/em><\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mouse And The Traps is halverwege jaren zestig lokaal bekend in Tyler, Oost Texas.
