Want het zuiden van de Verenigde Staten met al die donkere karakters trok aan zijn ziel. Dus maakte hij met <strong>County Seat<\/strong> (Cornelius Chapel <!--more-->Records\/Sonic Rendezvous) een album vol van complexe schoonheid. Op opener <em>Sipsey<\/em> kijkt hij terug naar zijn jonge jaren vol onschuld. Die tijd is voorbij op <em>Heaven Knows Why<\/em>. Teveel drinken. Niets voelt goed. Maar de terugblik op die periode levert wel prachtige ouderwetse countryrock op in duet met Janet Simpson. <em>Dark Walls<\/em> is donker als Dylan. Een steelgitaar veegt door een stoffig, oud vertrek op <em>Equality, Al<\/em> in een poging de pijn te kanaliseren. Die steelgitaar draait rondjes om <em>Rosalee<\/em> en is ook prominent aanwezig op het titelnummer. <em>Mine Is A Lonely Life<\/em> is wederom gezongen met Simpson en klinkt als iets van The Everly Brothers of Gram en Emmylou.
