Het kwintet uit Austin, Texas heeft een geduchte live-reputatie en bracht dan ook al twee live-platen uit. Het geheim van de Texaanse heidenen is de line-up van drie songschrijvende, zingende en gitaarspelende frontmannen die zorgen voor variatie terwijl een homogene sound bewaard <!--more-->wordt. We horen van alles langskomen: Bottle Rockets, Jayhawks, Black Crowes, maar ook de swingende sound van Little Feat en het landelijke rootsgeluid van The Band. Daarbij heeft The Band Of Heathens beslist iets eigens; een laidback groove die in de countrysoul-nummers intrigeert en in de countryrock-&#8216;n-rollende liedjes meesleept. One Foot In The Ether is met zijn orgels, akoestische gitaren en luie slidegitaren eerlijke eenvoud, uitermate geschikt voor een uur en nog wat live-plezier.
