Op <strong>Concrete And Mud<\/strong> (Forty Below Records) doet hij dat met een symbiose van southern rock en countryrock. Zoals de <em>Mississippi River<\/em> slingert \u2018from the northern prairie to the Delta dawn\u2019, zo zakt Morrow af langs diverse genres om al meanderend uit te komen bij funky honky tonk. De slidegitaar van <em>Quick Fix<\/em> loopt langs Little Feat, <em>Good Ole Days<\/em> is de outlaw onderweg. Lange melodielijnen die uitkomen bij <!--more-->juist een korte, strakke, afgebakende aanslag. <em>Skinny Elvis<\/em> is een spitsvondig woordspelletje met een snel ritme in het neonlicht van een honky tonk waar de steelgitaar de show steelt. Op <em>Coming Home<\/em> ontmoet Morrow een amphetamine queen, maar het is niet de vrouw die hij in zijn dromen ziet. De toetsen rollen als golfjes over het droge land op <em>Weight Of A Stone<\/em>, een nummer dat in de jaren 70 een grote hit zou zijn geweest. Deze derde plaat kwam al in de eerste helft van vorig jaar uit en kreeg hier ook goede kritieken, maar is toch een beetje onder de radar gebleven. Stond vorig jaar in mijn jaarlijst op 9.
