Op het vijftiende (en laatste) nummer van het album is de reis nog altijd niet voorbij, want <em>The Great Mystery<\/em> eindigt nooit: \u2018Got no compass or map and I don\u2019t know the stars \/ Every step I follow my heart \/ If I make a mistake, should I go wrong \/ I\u2019ll suffer the<!--more--> ache but I\u2019ll move along.\u2019 De Duitse singer-songwriter en bandleider Rill is nog lang niet uitgekeken tijdens zijn reis door het leven; een route die hij al meer dan twintig jaar langs americana stuurt. Veelal stuurde hij door de heartland in navolging van lieden als Bruce Springsteen en John Mellencamp; op <em>Songland<\/em> zoekt hij vooral ook het zuiden van de Verenigde Staten op middels southern soul.
