Man, man, man, wat klinkt dat rauw bij die kerel. De mond gaat nauwelijks open, toch is zijn zang enorm krachtig. <strong>Almost Daylight<\/strong> (Drifters Church Productions\/Thirty Tigers\/Bertus) bevat liedjes over boeren en andere desperate types. \u2018I\u2019m a gypsy on my way home\u2019, zingt Knight op het titelnummer en hij perst er veel meer van dat soort fraaie zinnetjes uit. Ondertussen knarst de gitaar van Dan Baird langs een <em>Crooked Mile<\/em> en banjert een banjo <!--more-->door de melodie. Daarna gaat het richting Knoxville op <em>I Won\u2019t Look Back<\/em>. De bank wil de centen terug. Wat te doen? Partners gaan uit elkaar en een hond wordt aan zijn lot overgelaten op <em>Go On<\/em>. \u2018Keep your head up and go on\u2019, want wat zou je anders moeten? \u2018Too much pleasure brings you pain\u2019, dat is <em>The Damn Truth<\/em> en met alle ellende is dat dan bijna goed nieuws. De vooral van zijn werk voor Steve Earle bekende Ray Kennedy produceerde <em>Almost Daylight<\/em>, een plaat die rockt als een slingerende kolentruck op een bergweggetje door de Appalachen. Van de negen eigen liedjes schreef Knight er zeven samen met collega\u2019s als Dan Baird, Tim Krekel, Gary Nicholson, David Leone en Christy Sutherland. De plaat eindigt met twee covers.
