Hoezo? Kunstschilder Georgia O\u2019Keeffe vond inspiratie in het landschap van New Mexico en zette dat over in kleurrijke werken van duidelijke, doch zachte lijnen. Voor <strong>Spring<\/strong> (Paradise Of Bachelors\/Konkurrent) vertoefde de in Los Angeles wonende Kayla Cohen, oftewel Itasca, twee maanden in<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>een honderd jaar oude adobe. Dat is een huis en adobe is tevens het belangrijkste bouwmateriaal, een soort klei waarmee je zandkleurige lagen smeert. De muziek voelt <!--more-->aan als de woestijn. Traag met een verblindende zon erboven die alle kleuren (lees: klanken) iets vager maakt. Als een slang glijdt Itasca door het landschap. Dromerig als Mazzy Star, een met de natuur. Het is muziek om weg te glijden in een sluimerend bewustzijn. Dat kan goed met die stem, die ze nauwelijks verheft. De samenwerking met gitarist James Elkington , Chris Cohen, Cooper Crain van Bitchin Bajas en leden van Gun Outfit en Sun Araw verhindert dat ze helemaal wegglijdt naar dromenland. De platenmaatschappij noemt een heel rijtje namen ter referentie, waaronder Michael Chapman, Bridget St. John, Steve Gunn, Ryley Walker, Aldous Harding, Weyes Blood, Jessica Platt, en Vashti Bunyan.
