Dat is wel een omschrijving die hout snijdt, voor zover dat niet al in rook is opgegaan. Want we hebben het hier over blues, maar toch ook over country. En dat is in dit geval wat anders dan countryblues. Zo komt er op <em>Stranger Than Today<\/em> een steelgitaar aan te pas. Het begint bluesy, maar heeft een vrije countryuitloop. <em>Troubled Man<\/em> is funky countrysoul in een geweldige samenwerking met <!--more-->Ruthie Foster. <em>Her Letter<\/em> is daarna tamelijk rustig en niet zo imponerend. Het is dan ook niet <em>The Letter<\/em> natuurlijk. <em>Counting Down The Days<\/em> gaat met boenkende drums en bluesgitaar en de mondharmonica van Amos. De bluesy garagerock van <em>Hold Back<\/em> neigt naar Jake LaBotz met een koortje zangeressen, die zich ook laten horen op <em>The Job Is Never Done<\/em>. Voor de garagesoul van <em>The Pity And The Pain<\/em> gaat de stem van Amos omhoog, hij zingt het uit zijn tenen. Afsluiter <em>Keep The Faith, Have Some Fun<\/em> is funky als Neville Brothers.
