Bij beluistering van zijn nieuwste werk, <strong>Asterisk The Universe <\/strong>(Thirty Tigers) moest ik echter direct denken aan JJ Cale. De plaat kent namelijk dezelfde laidbackness die zo kenmerkend was voor de troubadour uit Oklahoma. Craigie komt niet uit die staat maar uit Californi\u00eb. En ook dat is te horen op dit al weer zevende album. Warmbloedige en aanstekelijke countryfolkrock, dat is je krijgt. En Craigie schrijft leuke teksten, met oog voor detail en soms <!--more-->ook met humor. In <em>Hustlin\u2019<\/em> over het krijgen van kinderen: Can we get ourselves an old one, maybe twenty two? \/ Ain\u2019t got no college loans, ain\u2019t got no other debts too \/ He could smoke with me, he could drink with you \/ He could be my drummer, David Crosby does that \/ He didn\u2019t raise his kid neither, honey, how \u2018bout that? In <em>Climb Up<\/em> is hij echter serieus: je kan pas iets veranderen in de wereld als je in een positie komt waarin je dat kan bewerkstelligen. Dus moet je stijgen op de ladder van invloed. Leuke plaat, die het vooral op warme avonden goed doet (dus zeker een tip voor nu!). Voor de liefhebbers: Craigie bracht drie nummers van dit album op single uit.
