Bekwaam. Toereikend. Het zijn kwalificaties die een gebrek aan geestdrift verhullen. Goed gedaan, maar niets om je over op te winden. Dat is het overheersende gevoel dat <strong>Go By Feel<\/strong> (eigen beheer) van de Canadese formatie <a href=\"https:\/\/thehellodarlins.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hello Darlins<\/a> achterlaat. De band bestaat uit musici die hun sporen hebben verdiend bij andere artiesten. Vocaliste Candace Lacina en toetsenist Mike Little begonnen de band waarin we onder anderen Dave en Joey Landreth (The Landreth Bros.) tegenkomen. Joey neemt de zang waar op <em>Aberdeen<\/em>, vooral fraai als <!--more-->hij en Lacina samen zingen. Matt Andersen draaft op voor het duet <em>Still Waters<\/em>, een nummer met fraaie steelgitaar. Zonder tegenpartij verveelt de stem van Candace Lacina al snel. Het whoohoohoo van opener <em>Catch That Train<\/em> doet het ergste vrezen voor wat volgt. Gladde popcountry is het. Zelfs de countrysoul met lekker gitaartje van het titelnummer helt zo halverwege het nummer over naar al te netjes. Zoiets gebeurt ook op het op zich fraaie, want rurale, <em>Mountain Time<\/em>. En <em>Prayer For A Sparrow<\/em> is bluegrass voor bij een met smetteloos wit tafelkleed opgediende dis.
