Zijn nieuwste worp, <strong>The Ballad Of Dood &amp; Juanita<\/strong> (High Top Mountain Records\/Thirty Tigers) borduurt voort op de bluegrass-albums en is deels ook opgenomen met de zelfde crew als die albums (dus met o.m. Tim O\u2019Brien en Sierra Hull). Toch is de insteek een andere, want dit nieuwe album is een conceptplaat. Het vertelt het verhaal van Dood (deels Native American) en zijn vrouw Juanita. De laatste wordt ontvoerd, waarbij Dood wordt<!--more--> neergeschoten. Hierna gaat de herstelde Dood, vergezeld door zijn hond (<em>Sam<\/em>) en muilezel (<em>Shamrock<\/em>) op zoek naar Juanita. Hij vindt haar\u00a0 en schiet daarna de ontvoerder neer (die haar inmiddels had verhandeld) en slaat hem dood met zijn tomahawk. Dit alles in elf korte liedjes (totale speelduur minder dan 28 minuten). Ja het is bluegrass maar wel wat avontuurlijker dan op de <em>Cuttin\u2019 Grass<\/em>-albums. Zo is er hier en daar een jewharp te horen, is het nummer <em>Sam<\/em> praktisch geheel a capella en is de groepszang op zijn tijd opmerkelijk.
