Het kwam er gewoon niet van, ondanks het feit dat ook op deze site lovende recensies werd<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">en geschreven, vooral van de vroegere albums<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\"> van meer dan 10 jaar geleden. Misschien dat de titel van het nieuwe album<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">, <strong>Simple <\/strong><\/span><strong><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW172691604 BCX8\">Things<\/span><\/strong> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">(<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">wel al in maart uitgebracht, op eigen label)<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">,<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\"> me meer aansprak<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\"> en dat die daarom al heel wat rondjes hier gedr<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">a<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">aid heeft. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">Ed <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW172691604 BCX8\">Jurdi<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\"> en <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW172691604 BCX8\">Gordy<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\"> Quist, de kern<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">leden<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\"> van dit zootje heidenen, toveren tien ma<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">kkelijk in het gehoor liggende nummers uit hun hoed.<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">De kracht van <em>Simple <\/em><\/span><em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW172691604 BCX8\">Things<\/span><\/em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\"><!--more--> ligt in de harmonieuze samenzang van de bandleden, die perfect op elkaar zijn afgestemd. De nummers zijn zorgvuldig gearrangeerd en de instrumentatie is redelijk subtiel en smaakvol<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">, hetgeen resulteert in een warm en tijdloos geluid.<\/span> <em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">The <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW172691604 BCX8\">Good<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\"> Doctor<\/span><\/em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\"> doet een beetje denken aan iemand als Jackson <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW172691604 BCX8\">Browne<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\"> terwijl het af<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">s<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">luitende <\/span><em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW172691604 BCX8\">All<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW172691604 BCX8\">That<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW172691604 BCX8\">Remains<\/span><\/em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\"> wat <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW172691604 BCX8\">Beatle<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW172691604 BCX8\">-e<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW172691604 BCX8\">sk<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\"> is (ik las dat ergens anders, m<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">a<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">ar kan het alleen maar beamen<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">)<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">. Het mooist is echter het titelnummer, een ballad <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">waarin alles uit de kast gehaald wordt<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\">, zeker in de brug. Tekstueel niet heel bijzonder; ga in tijden van nood terug<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW172691604 BCX8\"> naar de basis.
