Dat was waanzinnig goed. Van laatstgenoemde is nu een nieuw album verschenen: <strong>Love Songs For The Long Game<\/strong> (Six Shooter Records).<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">De Canadees <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">Neville Quinlan (de NQ in NQ <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">Arbuckle) heeft een heerlijke stem met rafelrandje. Bovendien<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\"> is hij een begenadigd liedjesschrijver, zo blijkt maar weer eens op deze nieuwe plaat. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">Negen van de tien nummers zijn van eigen hand. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\"> In lyrische teksten <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">beschrijft Quinlan moeilijke relaties<!--more--> die va<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">ak hun einde lijken te naderen. Het rockt licht, maar het kan ook in ee<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">n (piano)ballad. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">De titelsong behoort tot de laatste categorie; in dit nummer uit Quinlan zijn verwonde<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">ring en wanhoop over zijn plaats in deze maatschappij, maar hij houdt vol, schrijft <em>Love Songs For The Long Game<\/em>. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">Het nummer dat niet zelfgeschreven is, is een cover van Nirvana, <\/span><\/span><em><span class=\"TextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\" lang=\"NL-NL\" xml:lang=\"NL-NL\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW211606893 BCX8\">All<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW211606893 BCX8\">Apologies<\/span><\/span><\/em><span class=\"TextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\" lang=\"NL-NL\" xml:lang=\"NL-NL\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">. Hoewel Quinlan er zijn eigen saus<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\"> (met o.a. banjo)<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\"> overheen giet, blijft het duidelijk herkenbaar als Nirvana-werk, maar<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">&#8230; het past hier.<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">Mooi werk, zes jaar na zijn vorige plaat, van NQ <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW211606893 BCX8\">Arbuckle<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW211606893 BCX8\">.
