De muziek op <strong>The Rookie<\/strong> (Nine Mile Records) van <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepushandshove.com\/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR0KSH65tmbU57MVvDisiM9Zftv40BpUVMIKkrWtrcuk5wusqPQ35tYPmDA_aem_ASlR7MEVqTcQxWgVJSxSd102HIdG2Syq3FTRjxkKAVhvuM8oYdKI1faowpDaekODLmPCuur3Sql4X3cH7AfY56Ij\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Push &amp; Shove<\/a> is namelijk tijdloos. The Push &amp; Shove is de band van zanger en songschrijver Sean O\u2019Connor (ook ondernemer en kok) en de broers Rob Bernard (gitaar, ex-The Damnations) en Claude Bernard (toetsen, ex-The Gourds), uit Austin. Ook de eigenaar van de plaatselijke club Hole In The Wall, bassist Will Tanner, en drummer Bill Coresano maken deel uit van het collectief. Op dit debuut staan 12 verrekt aanstekelijke nummers die evengoed in 1976, 2001 of in 2022 opgenomen<!--more--> zouden kunnen zijn. Stevige roots \u2019n roll, soms ook met blazers. O\u2018\u00c7onnor heeft een soulvolle, barse stem die verraadt dat hij vaak en langdurig in The Hole In The Wall heeft gezeten en ook wel eens heeft gerookt. Lijkt in die zin wel een kruising van Gary Floyd en Ben Nichols. Prachtig! Af en toe wordt hij ook vocaal bijgevallen door de andere leden van de band. Niet te vaak, maar precies genoeg, zoals in het overheerlijke <em>Young Boy<\/em>, met ook een zalig rollend orgeltje. Het gaat niet altijd volle kracht vooruit; soms nemen de mannen wat gas terug zoals in het bijna jazzy te noemen <em>Sounds Like You<\/em>.
