Het blijkt toch al tien jaar geleden te zijn. How time <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">flies<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">&#8230; Enfin, Cary Hudson dus, de <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">man die <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">halverwege de jaren &#8217;90 indruk maakte met de band Blue <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">Mountain<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">, is nog immer actief in de muziek. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"><strong>Ole Blue<\/strong> (Malaco Records) is zijn nieuwste werk, m<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">e<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">t daarop <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">10<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> nummers<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> die hij opnam in de <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">Malaco<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">Studios<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> in Jackson, Mississippi<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">.<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> Een <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">studio<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> waar vanaf de zestiger jaren veel, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">voornamelijk,<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> soulplaten opgenomen zijn (waaron<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">der het bekende<!--more--><\/span><em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> Ring My Be<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">l<\/span><\/em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"><em>l<\/em> van Anita Ward). En iets<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">je<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> van die soul<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">sterrenstof<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> is oo<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">k<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">neerge<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">daald op deze<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> nieuwe nummers van Hudson. Het swingt wel iets meer. Dat hoor je al gelijk in het <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">swampy<\/span> <em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">Who<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> Been <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">Hoodooing<\/span><\/em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"><em> U<\/em>. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">En er zit ook iets licht <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">funky&#8217;s<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> in het gitaarspel van Hudson op het volgende nummer<\/span><em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> Delta <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">Darlin<\/span><\/em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"><em>&#8216;<\/em>. Het gitaarspel op het gehele album is overigens om door een ringetje te halen<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">.<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> Kristalheldere l<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">oopjes <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">galore<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">. Verrassend is dan ook <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">het prachtige en weemoedige <\/span><em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">After<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> The <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">Rain<\/span><\/em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">, waarop juist de piano het hoofdinstrument is<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">. Een tweede verrassing is ook dat Hudson in twee nummers de zang overlaat aan zijn dochter Anna. En die zingt de sterren van de hemel<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\">, zowel in stevig <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">bluesy<\/span> <em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW249417169 BCX8\">Goodbye<\/span><\/em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW249417169 BCX8\"> als in het mooi jazzy <em>Queen Of The Road<\/em>. Ik hoop dat we van haar ook nog veel meer gaan horen.
