Ze noemen het <strong>Woodland <\/strong>(Acony Records), naar hun eigen Woodland Studios in Nashville, die grotendeels ten onder ging aan een tornado in 2020. Vier jaar hadden ze nodig om alles weer op te bouwen en dit nieuwe album te maken, zeggen Welch en Rawlings in een persbericht. \u201c<em>Woodland <\/em>is het middelpunt van alles wat we doen, en de afgelopen jaren gedaan hebben. De muziek wervelt van tegenstellingen: leegte, volheid, plezier, vernieling,<!--more--> doorzetten.\u201d <em>Woodland <\/em>is dus het eerste album met nieuwe songs sinds 2011. In 2020 was er een serie demo\u2019s onder de titel <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.altcountry.nl\/blog\/2020\/08\/gillian-welch\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boots No. 2: The Lost Songs<\/a><\/em> en <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.altcountry.nl\/blog\/2020\/07\/gillian-welch-dave-rawlings\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">All The Good Times Are Past And Gone<\/a><\/em>, een album met covers die Welch en Rawlings hadden opgenomen tijdens de eerste coronalockdowns.
