De Canadese singersongwriter is al een kwart eeuw actief (eerst met de band Staggering Crossing, later met andere groepen en uiteindelijk solo), maar bekend en beroemd is hij voornamelijk in zijn vaderland. In zijn liedjes probeert hij steun en troost te bieden aan iedereen die wel eens moeite heeft met de ingewikkelde problematiek van de wereld van nu, of die te kampen heeft met kwesties van persoonlijke aard. In het lichtvoetig getoonzette <em>Ain\u2019t Life Strange<\/em> vraagt Taylor zich af hoe <!--more-->hij ondanks veel tegenslag overeind is kunnen blijven. <em>Sixth Line Road<\/em> is een grimmig protest tegen politiegeweld. In het stevig rockende <em>Running Away <\/em>vraagt hij zich af hoe hij er eigenlijk aan toe is: \u2018Am I really getting over it, or am I just running away?\u2019 Dan is er nog het elegante walsje <em>Love Letters<\/em>, \u2018from my love to your heart\u2019. De titelsong is een mooi, slepend duet met Allison Russell, over de vele onverwachte wendingen in het leven.
