Johan <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">van den Berg jr,<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"> eigenaar van De Houtense platenzaak De Groeverij, was op Spotify op zoek naar een nummer van <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">The Red Hot Chili Peppers<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">,<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"><em> Scar Tissue<\/em>,<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"> toen hij stuitte o<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">p een nummer met dezelfde t<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">i<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">tel van ene <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tobinkirkmusic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tobin Kirk<\/a>.<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"> Hij slingerde het aan en was gelijk ge<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">\u00ef<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">ntrigeerd door d<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">e klank e<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">n<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">\u00a0het uiterlijk van de man uit Illinois<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">.<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"> Kirk heeft dan een aantal singles en een album <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">op z&#8217;n naam staan. Van den Berg treedt in contact met Kirk en stelt hem voor dat album<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">, <em>Lessons In Lonely,<\/em><\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"> in Nederland<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"> uit te<!--more--> brengen op het label van De Groeverij. In contact met Kirk blijkt dat laatstgenoemde nog een aantal nummers voor een tweede album <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">klaar heeft liggen. Dat resulteert in <em>Tobin Kirk&#8217;s Waterworks<\/em>, dat eveneens door De Groeverij als lp wordt uitgebracht (en ook op Spotify te beluisteren is). <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"><em>Waterworks<\/em>, het is een groot tranendal waar Kirk over zingt,<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"> maar wel met een zekere lichtheid. Zijn lief is weg, hij zit aan de grond (<em>Rock Bott<\/em><\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"><em>om<\/em>), maar het <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">klinkt allemaal toch best opgewekt. Akoestische gitaar, bas<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">,<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"> dr<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">ums, steelgitaar, dat is het gehele muziekpalet. Het geeft de countrynummers <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">ruimte, er blaast gewoon een frisse wind door <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">het verdriet<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">.<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"> In <em>Bott<\/em><\/span><em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">le<\/span> <\/em><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"><em>This Feeling<\/em> is het pedalsteelspeler <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">Clayton Burke die de eerste stem zingt.<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\"> Volgende week vliegt Kirk naar Ned<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW52578995 BCX8\">erland om er vijf optredens te geven in de muziekzaak in Houten.
