Tot dat besef kwam <a href=\"https:\/\/johnnydelaware.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Johnny Delaware<\/a> terwijl hij tussen Mexico en de Verenigde Staten pendelde om zijn bestaan als musicus in stand te houden. Op <strong>Para Llevar<\/strong> (Normaltown Records) combineert hij de folkrock van Laurel Canyon met invloeden uit Latijns-Amerika. In in weerwil van de songtitel <em>Jungle Full Of Ghosts<\/em> begint dat als Californi\u00eb in het avondlicht. Een warme stem, akoestische gitaar, percussie en dan een wat uitgebreidere begeleiding waarbij drums het tempo opvoert. \u2018I ain\u2019t afraid to get lost\u2019, zingt Delaware. In <em>Running<\/em> ligt hij in de Mexicaanse zon en <!--more-->alles is goed. Totdat er onbehagen doorsijpelt. Het nummer loopt fraai over in <em>Sad Song<\/em>. Voor een liedje met zo\u2019n titel hoeft de artiest niet diep te graven, die komt als vanzelf. Maar de wanhoop blijft weg. Niet nodig, droeve momenten horen er immers bij. Die kun je niet uitsluiten. Op <em>Stubborn Faith<\/em> klinken fraaie gitaarakkoorden en komt er een trompetje bij. En een steelgitaar. Heeft wel wat van Father John Misty. <em>Caution Darlin\u2019<\/em> pakt de sfeer van Paul Simon, maar er zweeft ook iets van Israel Nash doorheen. Delaware kennen we van de bands Susto en The Artisanals en die kregen van mij meestal niet erg positieve besprekingen.
