En dat is niet voor het eerst. Op het drie jaar geleden verschenen <em>Austin To Houston<\/em> stond <a href=\"https:\/\/marinarocks.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marina Rocks<\/a> ook al weinig flatteus op de foto. Daarop toonde ze haar oksels boven een hemdje met daarop de naam van Joe Ely. Dat mag dan mijn favoriete artiest zijn, dat stemde niet milder. De typografie op dat en dit <strong>S.O.S. Texas<\/strong> (eigen beheer) is niet veel soeps. Goed, de muziek dan. <em>It\u2019s All Messed Up<\/em> heet het eerste nummer en dat vat het aardig samen. Marina Rocks neigt nogal naar het ordinaire. De paniekstem van dat eerste nummer doet wat denken aan powervrouwen die in de <!--more-->jaren 90 de hitlijsten teisterden. Het titelnummer gaat over een kroeggevecht en dat ze daar wel een rocksong over wil schrijven. Er zit wel wat aardig gitaarspel in. Marina Rocks doet veel zelf: gitaar, drums, toetsen, percussie, bas en natuurlijk zang. Lloyd Maines is ook actief op allerhande snarenspul, maar niet op steelgitaar helaas. Gary Weldon speelt chromatische mondharmonica op <em>The Hollywood Sign<\/em>. Zowel <em>I Don\u2019t Know<\/em> als <em>Starlight<\/em> zijn geheel instrumentaal en kunnen niet echt boeien. Interessanter is <em>One More Song<\/em>, omdat ze daar opeens zingt als Lucinda Williams.
