Een gitaar is gevangen in een rauw en repeterend motief. Met die spannende combinatie aan geluiden opent <strong>Dogs<\/strong> (Seasick Records) van <a href=\"https:\/\/cashlangdon.bandcamp.com\/album\/dogs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cash Langdon<\/a>. Die keerde onlangs terug van Washington D.C. naar Birmingham in Alabama waar hij opgroeide. Hij opent het album met het titelnummer waarop hij het heeft over de vele zwerfhonden op straat in een wijk van die stad waar hij zijn eigen hond ook uitliet. Het brengt een intrigerende geluidssculptuur, een pietsie rauwer dan de meeste alt-country. Niet zo gek dat er vergelijkingen worden getrokken<!--more--> met Neil Young en Crazy Horse. <em>Magic Again<\/em> brengt gitaarrock met een beetje new wave. <em>Never Been<\/em> is zwaar, log en behoorlijk hard, waarna <em>Sight Of Sound<\/em> een beetje slepend op gang komt. Ietwat als Dinosaur Jr.? Langdon nam het album in twee dagen op in Muscle Shoals, maar countrysoul is dit dus niet. Lekker is deze indierock uit Alabama wel. Met dwarse gitaarnoten op <em>Company Of Punishment<\/em>.
