Terwijl de man toch een imposante staat van dienst heeft als songwriter voor grote namen als Alan Jackson, Lee Ann Womack, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Kelly Willis, Solomon Burke en Robert Earl Keen. \u2018A songwriter\u2019s songwriter\u2019 wordt hij wel genoemd \u2013 dat zal het zijn. Hoe dan ook: <em>Nature Of Necessity<\/em> is het bewijs dat Wright ook als eigenstandig uitvoerend artiest zijn\u00a0mannetje staat. Het is zijn derde soloalbum, na<!--more--> <em>Dust <\/em>(2018) en <em>I Win <\/em>(2020). En hij pakt na dat halve decennium flink uit: maar liefst achttien nummers, samen 1 uur en 18 minuten. Twee daarvan (<em>Crawlspace <\/em>en \u2013 samen met Patty Griffin \u2013<em> All The Texas<\/em>) kun je gevoeglijk overslaan, als obligate rockmissers. De rest is het bewijs van Wrights vakmanschap in alle stijlen en tradities binnen de weidse grenzen van de americana.
