Eerst deden de beide artiesten om de beurt een paar eigen nummers. Aan het eind kwamen ze samen op het podium om Cohens <em>Who By Fire <\/em>te spelen. Rollins, verscholen achter een donkere zonnebril, begon; daarna kwam Cohen met het eerste couplet. \u2018It was clear that something special was <!--more-->happening,\u2019 schrijft Levy. Nu weer de solo van Rollins. Cohen draaide zijn rug naar het publiek om Sonny aan het werk te zien, die hartstochtelijk tekeerging. Na de tweede keer Cohen was het aan Rollins om de zaak af te ronden. \u2018Sonny began to rock. When some devout Jews pray, they sway back and forth in a hypnotic rhythm, a shuckling motion; Sonny was davening as though his life depended on it. He ended with a final peroration as the rhythm section dropped out, circular breathing to repeat an insistent motif without taking in the breath of life.
