Zijn sound als singer-songwriter wijkt wel enigszins af; zijn afkomst uit de Appalachen ligt namelijk aan de basis van <strong>Man Of Visions<\/strong> (eigen beheer). Flory groeide op in Indiana \u2013 zijn ouders verlieten kort voor zijn geboorte Virginia \u2013 en verhuisde naar Chicago waar hij een baan aannam bij Old Town School of Folk Music terwijl hij tegelijk een countryband begon en als duo zich richtte op old-time, waarna hij in Arkansas zich verder bekwaamde in bluegrass en gospel. Voor zijn eerste <!--more-->soloplaat <em>Unholy Town<\/em> toog hij in 2011 naar Texas, waar hij sindsdien is gebleven. Flory (zang, banjo, gitaar) blijft dicht bij zijn roots en dat komt het duidelijkst naar voren op de door viool aangedreven traditional <em>Cripple Creek<\/em>. Je leest het ook af aan de personeelsbezetting die de countryfolk van Flory neerzet: Sharla Franklin (viool, zang); Morris Holdahl (gitaar, zang); Steven Sellers (mandoline, steelgitaar) en Jesse Thompson (staande bas, zang). Ook <em>Red Rocking Chair<\/em> is een traditional en <em>I\u2019ll Trade You Money For Wine<\/em> werd geschreven door Robbie Fulks. Naast vijf eigen liedjes staan er op het in een fraaie hoes van Jon Langford gestoken<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>album nog nummers die hij schreef met Vincent Neil Emerson (<em>Red Headed Stepchild<\/em>) en Zach Schmidt (<em>The Truth Ain\u2019t Hard To Find<\/em>).
