De avond tevoren hadden ze een concert gegeven in The Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. J.P. Richardson, oftewel The Big Bopper, was nog maar 28, Holly was met zijn 22 jaar nog jonger en Valens werd slechts 17 jaar oud. Van Holly en Valens verschenen na hun dood nummers die ze nog niet af hadden gerond, het waren demo\u2019s die daarna werden aangevuld. Die versies tracht <!--more-->Josu\u00e9 te verbeteren. Niet door urenlang te perfectioneren in de studio, maar juist door in snelle takes de energie van de oude rock-\u2019n-roll te vangen. Daarin slaagt hij heel behoorlijk. De VU-meters op <em>Let\u2019s Rock &amp; Roll<\/em> gaan in het rood, net zoals het gitaarwerk van Valens ook behoorlijk overstuurd kon zijn. Ook <em>Paddi Wack Song<\/em> spat uit de luidsprekers. <em>Well\u2026 Allright<\/em> en <em>Learning The Game<\/em>, het zijn bekende songs en dat geldt al helemaal voor <em>La Bamba<\/em>, waarmee wordt afgesloten.
