Want wat zijn ex achterliet toen ze vertrok was onder meer \u2018a Del-Lords record that used to be mine\u2019. Ja, natuurlijk had Huey een plaat van de band van Eric \u2018Roscoe\u2019 Ambel, die dit album produceerde. Dit is hetzelfde soort rootsrock van de Amerikaanse oostkust. Op <em>Grievous Angels<\/em> zingt hij over \u2018a shot at glory every night along the tour\u2019. Hij is al een tijdje actief, maar nog niet genezen van het virus dat rock-\u2019n-roll heet. Het nummer<!--more--> doet enigszins denken aan <em>Saint Valentine<\/em> van Joe Ely. Op het titelnummer is hij onderweg naar het beloofde land om te belanden tussen de <em>Ghosts Of The Chelsea Hotel<\/em>. Die geesten bezorgen hem de wilde energie van The Pogues. Huey was eerder de frontman van The Surreal McCoys van wie we jaren geleden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.altcountry.nl\/blog\/2016\/06\/the-surreal-mccoys\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Howl &amp; The Growl<\/em> recenseerden<\/a>. Dat was cowpunk waarbij de knoppen helemaal naar rechts waren gedraaid, op deze nieuwe gaat Huey er nog steeds stevig tegenaan. <em>The Gutter &amp; The Stars<\/em> heeft wat van The Godfathers, die ik ook al noemde in de bespreking van <em>Look Who\u2019s Back<\/em> van The Nude Party. <em>The Hatfield Action<\/em> begint met een stijlcitaat van Chuck Berry en afsluiter <em>King Of Tears<\/em> is rockabilly.
