Haar warme stem glijdt als gesmolten boter door de songs. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW195125229 BCX8\">Maar er<!--more--> zit wel een lekker ritme in die composities. Veel <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW195125229 BCX8\">pedal<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW195125229 BCX8\"> steel en <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW195125229 BCX8\">fiddle<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW195125229 BCX8\">, zo af en toe wat blazers en de uit gitaar van Marshall Hood<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW195125229 BCX8\"> (=neef van Warren en <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW195125229 BCX8\">Champ<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW195125229 BCX8\"> Hood)<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW195125229 BCX8\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW195125229 BCX8\">klinken soms wat vinnige licks. De inmiddels in Austin wonende Plaisance zelf speelt piano maar haar spel op dit tweede album treedt net wat minder op de voorgrond dan op het debuut <em>Louisiana Lonely<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.altcountry.nl\/blog\/2025\/02\/paige-plaisance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recensie<\/a>). <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW195125229 BCX8\">\u00a0De zangeres laat wat beelden aan haar jeugd in Louisiana terugkomen in songs als <em>Hummingbird, Great Blue Heron<\/em> en in het titelnummer natuurlijk.<em> Swampwater<\/em> is ten opzichte van het debuut al weer een prettige stap vooruit.
