De rootsrock van Fahey kan lekker puntig zijn, zo begint het album met Sunday Painter\u2019s Sunday bijna als iets van Buzzcocks. Ook The Art Of Happiness Blues (Even The Dalai Lama Want To Kick Your Ass) gaat die kant op. Half Full heeft een sixtiessfeertje, maar dan toch vooral op de manier zoals garagerock <!--more-->in de jaren tachtig kon klinken. Sympathieke rock-\u2019n-roll zonder pretenties is dit. Fahey kan even na\u00efef uit de hoek komen als een Jonathan Richman, waarbij soms ook de invloed van Lou Reed om de hoek komt kijken. Humor heeft hij ook, getuige een songtitel als I Could Not Steal Her Heart (So I Stole Her Car). Op het slechts met akoestische gitaar gebrachte Your Tell Tale Heart is Fahey de folkzanger, maar meestal maakt hij wat meer lawaai.
