The Band is daarbij het voornaamste referentiepunt, vanwege de losse swagger, de samenzang en de rollende Hammond. The Jayhawks is de volgende vergelijking, luister maar naar This Old World&#8217;s Not Gonna Change, waarna we <!--more-->bij een contemporaine band als Dawes aanbelanden. De band uit Dallas, Texas levert tien heerlijke countryrocksongs af die zijn opgetrokken uit warmbloedige orgels, twangende Telecasters en fraaie harmoniezang. Ouderwets en beslist retro is Deadmans countryrocksound,maar dat is precies waar wij hier bij Altcountry.nl altijd maar weer van smullen. Een licht swampy toets, een zweem countrysoul en bakken vol seventies countryrock; Deadman bevindt zich met Take Up Your Mat &amp; Walk te midden van recente real contenders als Dawes, Dylan Leblanc en Whiskey Myers.
