Natuurlijk was American Recordings van Johnny Cash in een productie van Def Jam-baas Rick Rubin in 1994 een regelrechte sensatie, maar nu \u2013 15 jaar later \u2013 heb ik het wel gehad. Althans, die ervaring heb ik bij beluistering van <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kriskristofferson.com\" target=\"_blank\">Kris Kristoffersons <\/a><strong>Closer To The Bone<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/newwestrecords.com\" target=\"_blank\">New West<\/a>\/Sonic Rendezvous), in een productie van funketeer Don Was. Kristofferson \u2013 een held, beslist \u2013 is inmiddels zo op leeftijd dat-ie gewoon <!--more-->niet meer kan zingen. Natuurlijk hoor je door alles heen het icoon Kristofferson en gaan de gedachten uit naar al het moois wat de man heeft gewrocht, maar het kraakt en piept zo amechtig dat ik het gevoel krijg dat we Kristoffersson maar beter met pensioen moeten laten gaan.
