Na een aantal heel bijzondere thematische ep&#8217;s van tamelijk recente datum, ligt er met <strong>Predicting The Past \u2013 Introducing Americana Music Vol. 2<\/strong> (Rootsy\/Sonic Rendezvous) alweer een nieuw album van de singer-songwriter uit Nashville in de winkels vol begeesterd vakwerk. Olney kan liedjes schrijven waar Townes Van Zandt tevreden mee was geweest, zoals bijvoorbeeld <em>Johnson City Blues<\/em> er eentje is. Met <em>You Never Do<\/em> draait hij <!--more-->zijn hand ook niet om voor een ongecompliceerd rockertje. Op<em> Jama Ball<\/em> laat hij horen dat je ook zonder alle registers open te trekken intensief kan rocken. Opener <em>Girl On A Hill<\/em> heeft nog het meest weg van oude rock-&#8216;n-roll uit Louisiana, terwijl het gitaarspel van Sergio Webb op <em>Look<\/em> Mexicaanse sferen brengt. Een plus gaat ook naar producer Paul Burch, luister maar eens naar het fraaie ruimtelijke geluid van <em>We&#8217;re All Innocent Here<\/em>, waarop Burch ook verantwoordelijk is voor het lekker rollende drumwerk.
